Course ratings give players an idea of the difficulty level of the various courses we play so they can make informed decisions about their participation. We hope this system will help improve the pace of play at our events, and increase overall member satisfaction. Definitions of Difficulty Ratings: · Beginner Friendly These courses are normally short in length, have fewer obstacles, wider fairways, and a generally more laid back attitude. Beginners can feel comfortable at these courses, but all levels of player can enjoy this event and play stroke play or scramble, as desired. · Average A course of average difficulty is still friendly to beginners and all players. There may be more on-course hazards to contend with than a “beginner-friendly” course. Those players that are very new to the game may want to play a scramble in their group. · Moderately Difficult Courses rated moderately difficult may have narrower fairways, “target” golf, more obstacles, and be longer in length from the forward tees. Beginner golfers or higher handicappers (over 30) may want to play a triple bogey maximum, or play a scramble with their group. · Advanced Courses in this category are among the most difficult in the state from the forward tees. Although all levels are welcome, all players will be given a triple bogey maximum. Those over a 30 handicap should play either the triple bogey max or a scramble.
