We
have a wonderful practice in our chapter of using a volunteer host
for each event. This is your point person for pairings, pricing,
weather issues, etc. They work directly with the course and the pro
to get the best deal – they ask for free range balls and remind the
pro shops to put their ladies clothing and accessories on sale and
they provide our list of players to the course and make sure we have
enough tee times. This is very important, since the courses are
dependent on filling up all their tee times to stay afloat in these
difficult days.
Any member can be an event host and we encourage all of you to do
this at least one time. It is an easy way to volunteer and help out
your chapter.
We’ve noticed that some members have signed up for events and have
not shown up. This can hurt our relationship with the pros and make
them hesitant to give us the tee times we need the next time we play
there. Please help us manage this by giving proper notice and
maintaining sensitivity to this issue.
Here is what to do if you cannot make it to a scheduled event:
1) Prior to the pairings list going out (approx 3 days before
the event): update evite with your intentions.
2) If the pairings list has already been sent out and your name
is on it, please email the event host to let them know you will
not make it.
3) If it is within 24 hours of the event, please CALL the event
host. Not all hosts have access to check email just before the
event. The host’s phone number will be on the evite invitation.
4) If it is the day of the event or you cannot reach the host,
please call the course directly. The course number is included in
your evite invitation.
5) If the event is out of town, the more advance notice you can
give, the better. Out of town outings require more coordination
with the courses and other chapters.
Thanks for your help with this. It keeps our chapter in good
standing with the courses and helps get all of us the best deals
possible.
